It wasn't to prove third time lucky for Space Ibiza, which had topped this poll for the last two years, but there's no doubting that the Ibizan titan is still a world-class champion.
Opening its doors in 1989, when the Balearic spirit was infecting the UK, its development has mirrored that of the island, growing in stature each year, reinventing itself in the face of adversity and stacking up the strongest line-ups possible for generation after generation of rave pilgrims to experience.
Its Sunday daytime carry-ons might now be the stuff of legend thanks to Ibiza's change in licensing laws, and the planes flying over it hidden from view by the addition of a roof, but Space has adapted with the times, ensuring that its after-dark thrills still set the standard for others to try and beat.
